Do like JM 35 Sedan says I've done it this way many times. I do remove the rear wheels and place a roll around jack under the banjo to pull it out. With the wheels off you don't need to jack up the body as high to get the spring out of the cross member.
When stabbing the u joint, be careful not to get your fingers caught in the clam shell. Use a piece of wire to hold the u joint up while stabbing the drive shaft.
