Frank, The resistor is a special type of usually 15,000 ohms. You could fit one into the high tension cable between your coil and the distributer on your 4 cylinder car. You only would fit it if you were getting Radio frequency interference from the ignition coil in the radio. Those resistors have a recessed male screw thread in each end and you cut the cable in the middle and screw the cable ends into each end of the resistor. It wont effect the spark or the performance of the engine. On some engines one resistor is fitted at each spark plug like on the V8s. GOOGLE plug lead resistors and have a look. Regards, Kevin.
