Default Re: engine paint prep

Depends how much time you want to put into it - and what type of paint you have from Hirsch.

I have used Hirsh's paint - it is decent stuff, but the surface prep is everything. I would try to sand/clean it everyplace you can and use an etching primer, then I'd probably shoot epoxy primer over that . . . then the final color.

If you want it to look really good . . . then the prep is key . . . if you're using his rattle can stuff, then it doesn't make a huge difference (other than adhesion). I buy his paint in quarts - then do the above to get the block ready . . . then I spray it on. (Just like I'd paint the rest of the car).

Good luck!
