Default Re: 1960-1972 ford trucks- thoughts?

In the 60's and 70's Ford did not build a V6 powered pickup. 300 inline six and a few 302 V8's but mostly 292's thru 1964, 352's from '65 thru '67, 360's from '68 thru '76, a handful of 390's from '69 thru '76 and from '77 thru '79, the M series and 460's. If you want gas mileage half ways close to todays pickups, it won't happen with any of these. Back then gas was cheap and most people didn't care because most buyers of the time bought them to actually use as a small truck, not a daily family car type driver. Most of these had at a truck type 4 speed, no overdrive and a 3.50 ratio rear end. They were purpose built vehicles and gas mileage wasn't part of the equation
