Default Re: Axel housing wheel bearing surface

I had this problem, and I live in Texas. The trick is finding an old school machine shop with a lathe big enough for the axle bell to turn. I called so many machine shops and they weren't even sure they could do it, and if they could they would charge hundreds.

I finally found an old school machine shop in Arlington Texas, staff by a bunch of old timers and really old equipment. They machined the housings and pressed on the new races for $100.

Ask the old fellas in the neighborhood they should know where the good machine shops are.
