As it stands unless somebody has further knowledge of the passage of engines from the production line to the truck line (IIRC, there was some delay) then I would guess this engine is early - but a transplant.

If so, it may still be notable. There is some confusion regarding the "details" of early engines, which, if the number is correct, this qualifies as.

So at a minimum, there may be something to learn from this.

If it is like most commercial vehicles, they were used and frequently used HARD. My 29' CC pickup (avatar) was at 140K by the odometer, but into its SECOND engine which was a red "Allstate" replacement - and that one was pretty worn out too.

One might expect this is a replacement engine from the background given.
