Re: Hurd key blanks
Gary, The 9026 profile came out for Ford ign/door keys in 1939. It continued in use thru 1948. Since the grooving profile/shape is the same for 9020 and 9026, the 9026 blank replaced the 9020 sometime after 1939. The 9020 shape was used by Hurd/Ford from 1932 thru 1938 for ign/door keys. As a side note.......the 9018 shape was used for the trunk and accessories from 1932 thru 1938. The 9025 blank replaced it for the 1939 thru 1948 model years.
Since the grooving profiles are the same for 9020, 9018, 9025 and 9026, the blanks were often used indiscriminately in later years 1950's, 60's, etc
