Default Re: What kind of air cleaner setup is this?

The Monarch line was a larger car to be sold at Ford dealerships. The Meteor line was a smaller car to be sold at Mercury dealerships. For some reason Canada would not allow a Ford dealer to sell anything other than Ford and same with Lincoln Mercury. Many smaller communities especially in the western regions, had only one dealership in town and it was either a Ford dealer or a Mercury dealer. This spawned the Mercury pickups & trucks as well as the Monarch and Meteor car lines.

Ford of Canada had a lot of stuff that was different from the US. Maybe some Canadian vehicle had a small air cleaner like that. Pump motors and other industrial applications could have had a clutch but that one looks like a Long type. I don't know what type clutch the Canadian Mercury or Monarch would have had. I'll have to get a copy of the Canadian parts book one of these days.
