Interesting to watch all of this as I am experiencing about the same issues with 46 pickup. It came with a new Drake gasket but leaks when washing. I at this time have gasket in place, lid on top , small wooden blocks on each end of lid with a 2x2 wood bridge across the top and a tight post up to a cellar floor timber pressing ! Hoping to form a good bond and not leak. Thanks to all for the good ideas .
