Update.

Just test drove my pickup with the axle repaired as I described in the beginning of this post. Used my hydraulic press to take the bend out. My Blacksmith friend and I tied the axle down to his very large and heavy flat table, heated the twisted area and straightened it. I bored and bushed the bad kingpin hole, It had been peened at some time in the past, fit the new king pins and reassembled. A whole bunch of work, but it drives much better. I talked with the local front end shop and they said they could aline it. Things are looking up. Next is to replace the front brake shoes and one drum and redo the front spring pins and shackles and go through the steering gear. The the only thing that will be left to do will be a bunch of body work and then paint.
