On my '26, the Ammeter sometimes shows what I expect, sometimes it shows no real charge or discharge when I expect to see one, like after starting, or when turning the lights on and off. The generator seems to be charging correctly. Is this a known failure mode of the ammeter, to intermittently just not register, or is it an indication of other problems I need to look for? The wiring is all intact and in good condition, battery stays at 6.3V after use. Gage is OEM, car is original 6V, cutout seems to be OK.
I'm assuming this is an intermittent problem with the gage, checking in here to see if I need to look elsewhere before replacing it.
