In the mid 70''s I went to a workshop about running a modern engine on alcohol. The three takeaways were:
1. the carburetor jets must be larger.
2. run the gas line in a way to "preheat" the alcohol.
3. run alcohol by itself. even a high content of water in the alcohol would be fine.
