Maybe the large hole in the rear bearing is not lined up with the bushing above it. I found this out as I disassembled mine for rebuild.
The previous owner did a rebuild and when he couldn't put the rod down, he must have just knocked it down and it bent the edge of the bearing into the gap between the two rear journals. It worked but I had a hard time pulling the cam out for my rebuild.
You may be able to look down thru the bushing and see the problem?
