Re: Which side?
I know the phaeton had it on the driver's side originally because it was riveted on. But it does restrict the amount the door opens and makes it a challenge to get in and out of the car. With that said I put them on both fenders because I liked the looks of it 50 years ago when I did it. Of course when I did the sedan I left the spare in the rear. I have seen a pick up where they mounted the spare under the bed. They used a carrier from a modern truck but it sure works well. They have traveled with me on a couple of my longer tours and not having the spare in the way makes it easy for them to get in and out of the truck.
