The mag is a Lucas industrial unit. I have a couple in the garage. While not really a performance setup, UK pioneer rodder Ken Cooper used one on his rail in the 60s. There is no advance or retard, you have to just set the timing at one point and hope you hit the sweet spot.

They were intended for use like in the example shown where the motor would run at a constant speed. You can see some sort of speed governor device fitted and the mag has a speed limiting rotor arm fitted.

What you can also see is how much people are prepared to pay for something over here that most US flathead people wouldn't even consider paying $100 for.
