In Wisconsin we used no. 9 wire.
Last week I did a spring and baling wire to pull the clutch pedal all the way up to the floor on a ‘46 Mercury.
At least three of my cars have an added spring to the accelerator linkage with baling wire to get the tension just right.
It’s a right now fix and if done tight will last forever.
