Both have the same output, but the original 5 brush used more wire in the field windings, so it took a tiny bit less power away from the output. I always wished Ford had used the powerhouse for all years of the Model A.

Safe continuous output is 15 amps, and a bit more if you leave the back cover off for better cooling.
