so, if I have this right, a stromberg has a brass fitting with a 7/16 thread into the carb. This brass fitting takes the normal 1/2" "ford" nut. this is adapted into a worn out or damaged holley by threading out to 9/16 and using an insert to adapt down to 7/16 to take the brass piece robbed from a stromberg?
I can see why you're using the lathe to get you out of a mess.

edit: "standard" (UNF) for 7/16 is a 20 tpi pitch. 24 is used on weatherhead fittings like brake pipes for 1/4" tube nuts.

I think you got it!
I turned down this $3 fitting to .503 , smoothed out the threads in the carb with a .500 bit,
Added a bit of sleeve retainer and pressed it together.
