Seems most pickups have been "upgraded" with bright passenger parts - so much so that the painted commercial parts are hard to find.

I hate to disagree. The shell on an AA truck was straight across but on the pickup it had the "widows peak" and looked like a plain steel version of the 1930 passenger car shell for 1930 and 1931. The badge matched the passenger car badge for the respective year.
