I think the application should determine the cam. Other than stock the choice of a cam and Lifters will top 500 $ plus. The late cams will have to includ a distributor upgrade. The L-100 does not work well in a stock engine n a heavy car, but it does sound very good. I'd use an EAB cam and a load a matic distributor and carb for a stock street engine. also just think about torque?? compression increases it, and cams reduce it!!
