Re: 523 HP Y-Block!
The last Y I helped build certainly fell short of making that kind of HP, but did manage 383HP @ 6000rpm. I am no guru but cam/head/valve train design are certainly the key to making a Y block run. Here are some of the parts that went on the Y block I worked on.
Let's see, $2150 for the heads and $650 for the roller rockers..$2800..that's coming pretty close to what I paid for the Roush/Yates heads on my 408 stroker which flows 371 on the intake side and 294 on the exhaust.
Making over 500HP in any natrually aspirated motor takes cubic $$$$$ and a lot of thought, but in a Y block that is outstanding!
