Most coils are 9V. My T has a distributor and I run 6v.
If you have a 24 motor I would put a starter on it.
Now to be honest my car is 6V but I do run a small 12V battery stop and tail lights.
My ign, switch is 12V when on mag and 6V on battery. The 12v on the key is tied to the coil for cold starting then I switch it to 6v. Point being for starting I see no difference in 12v to coil vs 6v.
