My first authentically "old" car was a '60 Starliner I bought when I got back from overseas in 84... 352 2v, cruise, set of T-bird polycast mags; white with a blue interior and black center roof.... my shipmates called it the "Batmobile" despite it being the wrong color, etc... all I have of it now are the two front fender scripts. To me, it looked like a land-locked jet.... almost like the 3rd gen 'Birds. Prettiest car I'd ever seen IMHO. Took it down to Orlando from Charleston one weekend and from Charleston up to Lynchburg Va the next; never had a problem with her. She simply wasted away over the years. As far as being "rust buckets", it's been my experience that almost every car sold in the North before rustproofing became common was a "rust bucket" before the engine was broken in...
