It is a tempered hardboard. (composite material) not wood. Smooth on one side and textured on the other. Log on to Home Depot and put hardboard in the search box. 1/8" x 4' x 8' is $7.98 in Ga.
I just sprayed mine black. Good for a driver, not for a show car.
