Default Re: Spring shackle stud

Originals are as described, the center part that turns is wrapped in what looks like asbestos webbing. The ends of the outer shell are crimped and the whole thing is installed as 1. I have done this using home made tools (in a lathe) but since have acquired a KRW tool to remove and replace these things. It is MUCH easier with the KRW tool but removing the old rusted ones can still be a battle. I usually run a brake hone in the bore before installing new shackle pins. You might throw them in the freezer overnight to help with the task of installing them if you don't have the KRW tool.

On my 40s, I notice that the 2 that hold the front sway bar does not have cotter pin holes like the ones for the springs and uses a special nut.
