Today's oils are much better then when the A was built. One thousand mile intervals will probably work depending on road conditions on a non filtered engine. If you are running an inserted engine I personally would recommend using a full flow filter. As far as operating hours go based on you average speed, divide the miles traveled by your average speed will give you the operating hours.
