Running changes of that sort were and remain standard practice in the automotive business. The motives are many and include better durability, mistake correction, and cost reduction. Both the '32 and '33 model years including many major changes apart from minor ones such as in this case. The '34 model year was in contrast relatively "quiet" with regard to the number and scope of running changes.
