Default 1935-1936 Ford Running Boards

My brother is tidying up his 1936 Ford Deluxe Fordor Touring Sedan after many years of ownership and use. While the mechanicals have been updated, the rest of the car is very original and original. One item that needed replacing were the Stainless Steel Strips that had been damaged over time. These Strips were standard on the Deluxe model closed cars. He chose to buy a pair of Reproduction Strips and went to fit them to his original Running Boards. To his surprise, they would not fit? The Repro items were completely straight, while his Running Boards had a slight dip in the centre. When querying this, he was told that his Running Boards may have "drooped" in the centre from use over the years.
We have a friend who owns a very original 1935 Ford, so we asked him if what the Strips on his car looked like. He held a String Line on the front and rear of the Strip and supplied us with the above photo. As you can see in the above photo, these original Strips are not straight, but do in fact have a slight dip in the centre, albeit very slight. Now, it appears that some (or all?) of the Reproduction Running Boards are totally straight (no slight drop in the centre) and therefore the straight Reproduction Stainless Steel Strips would fit the Repro Running Boards perfectly. What does anyone know about this?
