Since you had to dress the ARM points they will likely need adjustment. That's the rub. Adjusting electro-mechanical regulators is an arcane science that requires knowledge of their operation, their operational specs and some tools the DIYer isn't likely to have. The manuals for my '53 Ford and my '55 Merc both consume 5+ pages on the subject.

You might try it out with the cleaned up ARM points, it may work OK for quite awhile but it's a crapshoot without test equipment. Also, these regulators are temperature sensitive meaning they need to be set according to a range of average ambient temperatures. Google "solid state voltage regulator for vintage cars". There are several outfits that can supply you with one or convert yours. Or just get a new one from Rock Auto or your friendly local auto supply.
