Default Re: spacer for a 39 flathead fan

I put a Champion aluminum radiator in my '41 coupe. The fan was like 1.75" from the radiator and it got hot quickly in traffic. Had a friend machine an aluminum spacer to place the fan closer the radiator. Even with a partial shroud it did not help the overheating very much.

Picture attached of the spacer in place. Also picture attached of the crank pully, which I believe is stock '41 car. But don't know if it is the same as your 39. The spacer is a snug fit and perfectly centered, so no vibration. I took it out and put in a truck radiator, which greatly reduced the overheating problem.

If you think you can use the spacer, PM me and I will send it to you. It adds 1 1/16".
