Wow....You could be talking about several different set-ups here. Is it a '39 Standard with a stock fan mounted on the generator, or a '39 DeLuxe with a stock fan mounted on the crankshaft? And just how far do you want to extend it? We'll assume that you realize that you normally don't want to insert a fan blade any more than about 1/3 to 1/2 of the blade's chord inward beyond the rear of the shroud's opening.

That being stated, I'd be very wary of spacing a fan with a hub any real distance at all, as you're just asking for an imbalance (or "out-of-square") situation, especially as the spacer width increases. Just MY opinion! DD
