The late '80s/early '90s Mustang W/C T-5 is a better choice over an S-10 because of better ratios, internal improvements and higher strength, but the S-10 tail housing swap moves the shifter forward and next to the gear box. A 1" adapter will mate the trans to any '49-'53 Ford/'51-'53 Mercury bell housing.
