Default Gas in oil

I've been having problems with gas getting into the oil pan since I got my '40. I've made plenty of changes to the fuel system, but the problem persists. I'm starting to think the issue is less with the engine and more with me.

I recently read in another thread that the procedure to cold start should be pull the choke all the way out, pump the gas a couple times, start it and as soon as it starts push the choke all the way in and use the throttle to idle up until warm. Is that correct?

I have been using the choke to idle it up until warm, but i'm reading that will flood it. Could running it with the choke out half way for extended periods cause gas to get into the oil pan?
