As a kid, I vividly recall a Model A marine propulsion installation in a small 26' boat.
It was complete except radiator. Keel cooled.
Transmission was engaged and disengaged without use of the clutch. Ancient history, but I can still hear that chilling loud grinding uncomfortable noise as the shift lever was shoved from forward to reverse and vice versa..
