The metal around the bottom edge of open car and pickup seat springs are part of the springs, not separate pieces. I have a couple of seat cushion springs made by Snyder's. I can take some pictures of them, showing the bottom metal trim. There is piping sown into the seat upholstery covering that is crimped into the metal on the bottom. My concern is how to get a nice looking crimp. I have seen some pretty poor looking crimp jobs on open car and pickup seat cushions. I don't know how Ford did it, but their crimping looks pretty good from the few original seat cushions I have seen. I think the repro springs are made just like the original seat cushion springs from what I can tell.
