Used serviceable original U-joints are usually easily found at the big swap meets here in California for $35-$45.

I think I may have run into some of those with the incorrect spline. I have had a couple I had to use a puller tool to remove the U-joint from the back of the transmission. Good idea to slide a U-joint onto the transmission spline and the drive shaft spline before you are under the car encountering the frustration.
