Updraught, we actually did cross the 1113 sand dunes in the Simpson and made it up Big Red. Our goal was to reach Birdsville in time for the Birdsville Races but we were a day too late! We got into Birdsville around 9pm and ended up camping in a field just outside of town that night. Don Snyder
