Did you check out the thread I referenced in post #17? To summarize it, the "fingers" differed in height from the flywheel surface by .050" with no adjustments. I was able to bring them within .007". When you figure that .050" is almost 1/16" , I think that you should be able to see that that much mis-alinement might cause problems (including chatter).
