Originally it was a brass slotted plug with a gas thread . To hold the oil pump in place when the oil pan is dropped some folks screw in a bolt to stop the oil pump falling out . A UNF thread bolt is not a gas thread and the thread in the block gets damaged hence some weeping can occur . A fix is to use the white plumbers tape wrapped around the bolt if you are careful.. the block thread is damaged anyway so no more harm can be done You might be lucky that the slotted plug with the nut could be the correct thread .
