Vern Walker was a co-founder of NSRA, I believe just prior to the 2nd Street Rod Nationals held in Memphis in 1971. I was there! The FIRST "Nationals" was the previous year and amounted to 600+ cars in a field in Peoria. Memphis was a 'big deal'......almost 1,400 cars if I remember correctly. DD
