Re: '39 trans in a '35 coupe -- rear mount question
In late '36 Ford went to the '37 type rear transmission mount to minimize engine vibrations. When I changed the transmission in my '35 to a '39, I retained the '35 rear mount and added a '37-'40 cross member brace to reduce vibrations. The '35 rear mount provided the needed emergency brake mounting. Basically, everything bolted together (after removing the '35 frame mounts). Vibrations are a now a thing of the past! Incidentally, for what it is worth, I found the bigger 78 transmission case somewhat harder to squeeze in the '35 opening.
