Hi Everyone, HenryCarl, when was the last time Grandpa's car went out for a ride? Have you tried a test run lately? Eight miles isn't far but then it can also be six miles on a rollback.

I've found lifting the hood sides when parking-up can help the vehicle cool off before the next leg of a trip, if it's getting back home we're thinking about.

If the coolant is actually topped off and you don't have much time behind the wheel of this car, you may find the vehicle wants to find the fluid level on its own. Polite way of saying to expect some reports of coolant on the windscreen of your chase vehicle, or maybe you see it coming out of your hood sides.

I check the coolant more frequently than the fuel and carry (both) fluids to add when needed. Just covering the tops of the tubes, maybe 10mm above, in the morning is a starting point for my '35 small top radiator equipped car.
