Huh?
“Most motor oils are made from a heavier, thicker petroleum hydrocarbon base stock derived from crude oil, with additives to improve certain properties.”
I lied. I didn’t pay $1.89 for gas; I paid $1.69.
I think I have it now.
On additives:
If the price of wheat (crude) goes down 75% then I can expect the price of white bread (gas) to go down somewhat, but not the price of rye bread (motor oil) because of that tablespoon of caraway seeds (additives).
Supply and demand:
Apparently motor oil is not subject to S&D. The supply is great and the demand is decreasing (more use of synthetics, modern cars=fewer oil changes).
Something in the milk ain’t white.
