There are at least 5 different styles of hold downs that I know of.

That includeds the holddowns on the big series Mercury engines.

I see my Ford parts books that only two different part numbers are referred to for the "clamps"

Nothing specific for the "E" models ALTHOUGH they are a different and unique critter.

The reference in the "Red Book" (which is the CTCI Restoration Manual by GilBaumgartner) shows on page 177 the differences between the "E" clamp and one of the other style used.

It measures the "E" clamp as approximely 2 1/4 long and the rest as 1 7/8.

I have clamps that measure 2, 2 1/8 and having differing shapes. All from Y Block engines.

The "E" clamps have a specific look to them - sorta oblong / oval and rounded .
