Default Re: Fresh rebuilt 8BA Flathead

I don't think so. I could be wrong. My first block was a complete Mercury engine, gave me the crank. The block was rusted from the inside out when pressure tested. This is the 3rd block that was all just a standard 8BA.

The builder drilled and tapped the furthest hole in then drilled and tapped to outer hole to 1/4 pipe. Then tapped the inside line to block the flow. The oil is then goes out the outer hole through the filter and back into the new drilled and tapped hole. If I remember correctly as i was told this filters almost all the oil from the pump before it goes into the engine, except for the rear main bearing. I may not have remembered correctly, but I think that is right.
