Years ago, probably 35 years I bought a WCFB carburetor at a local swap meet. It looked brand new in the box but was marked as defective.Guy tells me it came from a local auction of a shutdown car dealership and thought it was pulled from a brand new car that sold, it was a Desoto dealer. I went over it didn't do too much too it and put it on an Edelbrock 4 barrel intake on a '53 F-100.Ran good in the garage at idle but a 1/2 mile down the road it would cough and shutdown.Would restart and got me home but sputter again like it was outta gas. Finally went over carb better and found a simple solution a piece of rubber like a fuel hose sliver clogging fuel to bowl.Guess new car dealership found it was easier just to replace which would have been like 1954-1955 mayby. Only problem I had from then on was I could never jet it good enough to run leaner.
