I chased my tail for weeks trying to figure out why my truck kept running out of gas with 5-10 gallons in the tank. vapor lock, added thermo wrap around the gas line close to the carb, gas lines were new, blew them out again, removed the carter glass bowl filter, removed gas cap, the tank had been cleaned a coated. Luckily the sending unit has an inspection plate in the bed. drained the gas and looked into the tank and found the problem. Some silicon from sealing the rubber sending unit gasket had fallen into the tank and intermittently plugged the fuel pickup line. I switched to cork with Permatex aviation and the problem was fixed and I trusted my gas gauge again. There is nothing better than to fix a problem and know you found the cause versus taking apart and putting together and the problem went away without you knowing exactly why.
