I can only relate to what is correct for a '36 Ford, because that is what I have. Throughout the years that I have owned my Ford, over sixty-five years, the subject of a Body Number not being on the firewall has come up. The paint on my firewall is the original black paint that Ford put on it. If someone had removed the Body Plate prior to me purchasing the car in 1952, I have no Idea why that would have happened. I have looked many times for indications that there were holes for the Body Plate, never found any.
Many years ago I purchased the '35-36 Ford Book, reading through it I found that only bodies that were out sourced from vendors had a Body Number, AHA mystery solved, there ain't any holes, because there never was a Body Plate on the car.
