People like to put them on their roadsters especially and I'm sure a 1929 dealer would be happy to put anything on the car to stop you from going to a Chevy dealer. Cabriolet, Fordor and Town Car cowls do not have the curved "coupe pillar" like other body styles, but I don't think that makes a difference as far as mounting cowl lights. The lights were standard on Cabriolets, Town Cars, and some (but I don't think all) Fordors. However, they can be installed on any body style. As you say, dealers likely would do so to make a sale and/or a few extra bucks. That's why I said they were Ford-authorized
accessories.
