Default Firing order

I guess we all know the firing order on a T is 1-2-4-3. But, what is the proper way for the wires to be connected to the plugs?

In the picture the engine has a new wiring harness between the coil box and the timer. The color coded wires are hooked correctly to the timer. Notice the plug wires come from the box with the wires from 3 and 4 crossed. I have seen other engines done this way, and I believe it to be correct.

But I have also seen engines with the plug wires going to 3 and 4 not being crossed. I find that visually pleasing, but doesn't it mean that a couple of timer wires are not to their color coded terminal on the timer?
